Deal direct with the Level 2

If you have been told you need a Level 2, this is why.

A Level 2 electrician is needed when the work involves the connection between your property and the electricity network. That can include your power pole, service line, meter or consumer mains.

Most electricians cannot carry out this work. They need to bring in an authorised Level 2 electrician, which means another contractor to organise, another point of contact and often another cost.

With Brilliant Electric, you are dealing directly with the Level 2 electrician from the start. We can assess the problem, explain what needs to be done and carry out the authorised work ourselves.

We are an accredited ASP Level 2 service provider based in Riverwood, working across Sydney and authorised to work on the Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy networks.

We have been doing Level 2 electrical work since 2016, helping homeowners, builders and other electricians get their connection work sorted properly.

If a builder, real estate agent, energy retailer, electrician or electricity network has told you that you need a Level 2 electrician, it means the work involves the connection between your property and the electricity network.

Not every electrician is allowed to do this work. In NSW, a Level 2 electrician needs the right ASP accreditation and must also be authorised to work on the electricity network that supplies your property.

Brilliant Electric has both.

We are accredited and authorised to carry out Level 2 electrical work across all three NSW  electricity networks: Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy.

So wherever you are in Sydney, you can deal directly with us for the Level 2 work your property needs.

Level 2 vs general electrician

What a Level 2 can do that a general electrician cannot.

A general electrician works on the electrical system inside your property. A Level 2 electrician is authorised to work on the connection between your property and the electricity network.

That includes work on service lines, consumer mains, meters, private power poles, and connecting or disconnecting power.

This type of work cannot be carried out by a general electrician. It requires an appropriately accredited ASP Level 2 electrician.

Brilliant Electric is accredited to carry out this work directly, so when your job requires a Level 2 electrician, you can deal with us from start to finish.

  • Connecting and disconnecting your property from the network
  • Overhead and underground service mains between the street and your building
  • Private power poles on your land
  • The point of attachment where the service line meets your building
  • Consumer mains running from that point to your switchboard
  • Electricity meters and metering equipment
  • Anything covered by a defect notice from Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy or Essential Energy

If you were told to find a Level 2 by a builder, a real estate agent, your energy retailer, a general electrician, or a letter from the network, one of the items above is why.

Two things are required under the ASP Scheme Rules, and they are separate: accreditation with the scheme, and authorisation by each individual distributor. We hold both, on all three networks.

Our specialty

Above 100 amps is what we are known for.

Most Level 2 work sits under 100 amps. Above that, the distributor reviews every application individually and the job stops being routine. It is the part of the trade we have built the business around.

The numbers change at this level too: a standard residential board starts at $3,500, while a 200 amp board can reach $20,000 depending on the site. If you are planning a high load property, a workshop or a commercial fit-out, call before you design around a supply figure.

What it costs to start

Starting prices, not quotes.

Every job is different. What moves these numbers is site access, ground conditions, the condition of what is already there, and what the network requires.

Service

from

What shifts the price

Private power pole

from $1,500

Pole type and height, ground conditions, core holing through rock, disconnection and reconnection

Overhead service

from $2,000

Span, height, point of attachment condition

Temporary builders supply

from $2,000

Single or three phase, site layout, overhead or underground

Switchboard upgrade

from $3,500

Number of RCDs, consumer mains condition, asbestos panel, capacity required

What the $3,500 switchboard price covers

Service protection devices and fuses, the meter, earthing and neutral systems, the main switch, the board and panel, disconnection, re-terminating cables, and both the CCEW and NOSW compliance certificates.

What it does not cover

RCDs, because the number needed varies house to house; consumer mains; and overhead work. Asbestos meter panels are handled in house, sealed and taken to a licensed tip, at additional cost.

Our warranty

Materials are covered for 12 months. Our workmanship is covered for life, with one condition we would rather state plainly than hide in the fine print: it applies provided no other contractor has worked on the installation since we did.

For an independent reference point, the NSW Government’s own guidance puts a switchboard upgrade at $1,500 to $4,000, so the starting price sits inside the published range. Source

Credentials

Accredited on all three NSW networks.

Past work includes TAFE NSW Miller Campus, Mona Vale Hospital, Wet’n’Wild Blacktown, PARKROYAL Parramatta, Barangaroo and The Hustle Community Centre.

What happens when you call

Four steps, no surprises.

01

You speak to us

The phone is answered straight away during business hours, not by a call centre. Tell us what you have been told you need, or send a photo of the defect notice.

02

We assess the site

We look at what is there, what the network will require, and what the job actually involves.

03

You get a written scope and price

Before anything starts. If the scope changes on site, we tell you before we proceed, not after.

04

We complete the work and the paperwork

Including network notifications, testing, and your CCEW and NOSW certificates.

Areas we serve

Based in Riverwood, working Sydney wide.

Most of our work runs through Ryde and Eastwood, Chatswood and the lower North Shore, Randwick and the eastern suburbs, and Hurstville and the St George area. We also work East Hills, Panania, Revesby and out toward Liverpool.

Almost all of that area is Ausgrid. Liverpool is Endeavour Energy. Because we are accredited and authorised on both, plus Essential Energy, we do not have to hand your job to someone else when it crosses a network boundary.

How you can pay

Split it if you need to.

Most Level 2 work is not something people have budgeted for; a defect notice arrives with a deadline attached, not a payment plan. Being able to split a $3,500 switchboard across instalments matters more here than it does on a smaller job.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we get on the phone.

What is a Level 2 electrician?

An Accredited Service Provider authorised to work on the connection between your property and the electricity network: poles, service mains, meters, consumer mains, and connections or disconnections. A general electrician can work inside your property but is not permitted to touch any of that.

If the work involves your power pole, the service line from the street, your meter, the point of attachment, consumer mains, a defect notice, a new connection or a supply upgrade, you need a Level 2. If it is inside the property, a general electrician can do it. Call us and we will tell you which, even if the answer is that you do not need us.

All three that operate in NSW: Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy. Our NSW Electrical Contractor Licence is 381215C.

Private poles start at $1,500, overhead services and temporary builders supply at $2,000, and switchboard upgrades at $3,500. Those are starting prices, not quotes. We give you a written price before any work begins.

Service protection devices and fuses, the meter, earthing and neutral systems, the main switch, the board and panel, disconnection, re-terminating cables, and the CCEW and NOSW certificates. It does not include RCDs, because the number varies by house, and it does not include consumer mains or overhead work. Asbestos meter panels are an additional cost.

No. We work business hours and we do not run a 24/7 or emergency service. What we do offer is a phone answered straight away during business hours, by the people doing the work rather than a call centre. If you have an emergency outside those hours, contact your electricity distributor directly. Ausgrid’s emergency line is 13 13 88.

That depends on the job and what is already booked, so we will not give you a number we cannot keep. Call during business hours and we will tell you honestly when we can be there.

Twelve months on materials and a lifetime warranty on our workmanship, provided no other contractor has worked on the installation since we completed it.

Google Pay, Afterpay, Direct Debit, Klarna, bank transfer or cash.

Yes, it is our specialty. Above 100 amps the distributor reviews every application individually. The cost profile changes: a standard residential board starts at $3,500, while a 200 amp board can reach $20,000 depending on the site.

We are based in Riverwood and work Sydney wide, across both the Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy networks. See Areas we serve above.

Yes. Every job that requires it comes with a CCEW, a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, and a NOSW where applicable. These prove the work was done lawfully and to standard, and you will want them if you ever sell.
